How To Have A Successful Online Job Search
If you are looking for a job right now the best way to be successful and make good use of your time is to organize and plan what you will be doing first. I believe the first thing you need to do is write out an up to date resume and have it saved on your computer. Secondly, make a list of specific jobs you will apply for. Then you need to make a list of job search websites. Before applying for a job you need to decide if you will only consider full time or if you would compromise and take a part time job. Also, some employers in certain fields and certain job openings will consider either part time telecommuting or full time telecommuting. There are positives and negatives to telecommuting and you need to weigh both to decide if you would consider a position such as this.
After making your job search website list, plan out how much time you will spend on each site and write down which jobs you applied for and the date. Keeping track of what you have applied for will make it easier when answering your follow up phone calls. When you answer your follow up phone calls you want to know exactly what you are talking about and have a calendar handy so you can write down your interview times and not over schedule or over book yourself. Always be prepared with a cover letter, resume, and professional references when going to your interview. Some employers will want to only interview you once and others want to interview twice but either way you need to be completely prepared for the interview and be in professional attire. You want to make a good first impression because like I said some employers will only interview you once and that will be your only chance of getting the job. Be prepared for any related questions they make ask you like what your availability is and what date you can start.
By have lists and being organized during your online search you will be helping yourself by making good use of your time and saving time. You don't want to waste time looking at the same site after already reading the jobs list the day before. You need to move on and the faster you go and the more jobs you apply for the better chance you have of getting interviews and getting jobs. Only read jobs in your related field unless you will be taking anything you can get. But try not to settle because sometimes waiting just a little bit can mean the difference in making more money or getting full time with benefits compared to part time with no benefits. So good luck in your online job search.

Online job application, what do I do?
it's asking me to put a reason for leaving my last job and I was fired from my last job
Apparently I came in late all the time (which I didn't, they just wanted me to start 15 minutes before my shift started even though I came right from school so I'd usually get there just before)
my old coworkers will vouch for me that I was a good employee and was fired unfairly, they couldn't believe it when it happened. My old boss also told me that they were overstaffed and couldn't put me in another position in the store. I think what really happened was they needed people for the holidays, used me and when they didn't need me they let me go (a few other people mysteriously left too so maybe the same thing happened to them)
Anyways what should I put in? I'm an honest person but I dont think putting in "fired/dismissed' would help my chances at all. Should I just put "Overstaffed"? it then asks me to enter my old bosses contact info.
my start time was 5:30 id get there 5 mins before all i had to do was put my bag in my locker and put my work shirt on and go to my position took me like 1 min, when id get there the people from the last shift would still be there. this would be 2 days out the week and on weekends id get there early since id come right from home.
