Job Growth Would Make Unemployed Feel Like Superheroes
COMMENTARY | A job center in Orlando, Fla., apparently in an attempt to buck up the morale of the unemployed, spent $14, 000 to buy 6, 000 "superhero capes" as part of a "Cape-a-Bility" program that included a cartoon character, "Dr. Evil Unemployment."
Naturally, finger pointing and demands for an investigation have ensued.
Government bureaucrats are notorious in their alacrity in wasting money. But this program took considerable imagination which, one would think, would be useful in the private sector.
One can also just imagine the thoughts that would go to some poor unemployed person, laid off from his job for months, with the mortgage late and the power company threatening a cutoff, when his or her employment counselor hands over a bright, red superhero cape and tells him or her to go forth and do battle with "Dr. Evil Unemployment." They don't have a job placement, mind, but the cape would look pretty good on a person when he is reduced to panhandling on a busy street corner.
It is too bad that whichever government drone came up with this scheme could not have found a way to grant super powers along with the cape. A person with super strength could turn a lump of coal into a diamond, for example. Someone with super speed could mow a hundred lawns in the time it takes most people to do just one. Someone with telepathic powers could make a killing in the stock market. And, of course, the traditional crime fighting possibilities are just endless, as are the super villain opportunities.
At least the "Cape-a-Bility" program provided some jobs for weavers, presuming that the production of the capes was not outsourced to some place like China. A note to the investigators: This needs to be checked out thoroughly.
In all seriousness now, one has to ask the question, what were they thinking? There is one way to give the unemployed hope and good morale, and that is to give him or her a job. The job might not be at the same level as the one formerly enjoyed by the unemployed person, but there is nothing like being able to once again earn money after weeks and months of hopelessly seeing the bills pile up and taking stock of one's rapidly diminishing self-esteem.
Better yet, how about some pro-economic growth policies from government for a change? It worked during the Reagan 1980s, after all. It could do so again.

Should I move to Australia?
In a few years I am really planning to move to AU, It seems great there, I love hot weather, and I don't want to stay in america. I have never been there, but I am going this winter break. I don't know too much about it job and economy wise, I hear the people are great and it's much better than America, but I don't know a lot. I also want to learn how to surf, and it's a great place for that! plus I'll get to hear the accents 24/7 :) I'm thinking of either Sydney, or Gold coast. I am only 15 right now, but I plan to go there after college. Opinions and facts about Australia?
I'm not worried of being made fun of being "american" I am also only 1/3 american so I'm okay :)

Live in Germany, Switzerland or Austria?
Currently I live in Germany, but I have trouble to find IT job here. So I'm interesting about Switzerland and Austria. So my questions are:
1) Is it hard to find flat in Switzerland and\or Austria?
My experience in Germany - germans mostly don't give flat if you don't have a job for at least three months. I was lucky to get flat from the family from Turkey.
2) Price of flat in Switzerland and\or Austria? Prices of flat comparing to salary.
My experience in Germany - if I'll get at least Minijob 400euro, it will not cover my renting expenses, with full time job renting expenses would take about 50% of salary, whch is ok then.
3) Is it hard to find job in Switzerland or Austria?
My experience in Germany - about 90% job offers are from Job searching companies which for 2k euros will offer or search job for you, other option is to get Vermitlungsgutschein from Jobcenter, but they don't give it if you never worked in Germany. The only option is to find some Minijob, these job offers mostly come directly from companies, this is what I'm doing in this moment.
4) How hard is to find IT job in Switzerland or Austria?
My experience in Germany - as I mentioned most job offers come from companies which then "help" you find a job. Job offers which come directly from companies, BMW for example, require superman with all possible sertificates and so on.
5) Minijobs in Switzerland or\and Austria, are there?
6) Question just about Switzerland. It will be ok with german and english language knowledge? Three other Switzerland's official languages I'm not planning to learn. How different is german language in Swizerland? In google I have found information that only some words are different and that's all.

I have an Associates Degree in Information Technology, and..?
Well not yet, i graduate in a few months.
The college i go to is a small 2 year school.
Should i go on to a different school after this one to get a bachelors degree, or should i stick with my Associates degree and try to find a job?
Because most IT jobs require a Bachelors degree.
Also, if i do continue my education with a bachelors degree would i have to go for all 4 years or would it depend on my credits even though i would already be graduated by then.
