Stay Focused: Organize Your Job Search
I have constantly kept pointing out that searching a job is a complex and prolonged task

I have constantly kept pointing out that searching a job is a complex and prolonged task. Several times you have an aim: looking for the right career or job, so there is not a lot of search involved. But more often than not, it becomes a Job Search because you dont precisely recognize what you are looking for. What you know is that you require a new job, but the who, what, where and which job uncertainties are wide open. It is this kind of search that can become disordered. The options are irresistible like you want them all. If you are organized, it will help you stay practical about the time-frame and the effort required in your job search.
Long searches makeitharder to keep on paying attention and optimistic on the job search. It is very important that you:
(a) Administer your job search and keep a track of the jobs you find
(b) the jobs you have submitted yourapplicationto
(c) The resumes and cover letters you have put forward
(d) And the networking contacts you are looking forward to.
You may found it difficult, but it is not all that difficult. However there are less positions vacant and many candidates for everyjob opening, and you not only have to be competitive but super-competitive so as to be competent to make a strong positive impression on every hiring administrator, recruiter, and networking contact. There are many ways to find yourjob search inhand. To make it easy, put in order your search, make creative use of your time and build strong networks.
To be a better organizer of your job search follow the following tips:
(a) Use time and energy in the correct area. This will generateoutcomesand job offers more rapidly than if you had not.
(b) You have to set a time limit and work hard to meet that limit. This will help you get your ducks in a row.
(c) Build up a system to track your search.
(d) Research like crazy.
(e) Hunt the webjob boardsand read professional journals.
(f) Take full advantage of the many career guidance books available.
Keep record of your daily activities including contacts, dates, interviews and follow-ups. This will help you cross off jobs once they are filled or if youre unable to get any further in theapplicationprocess.
Time and again, youll hear thatsearching for a jobis a complex process. Therefore, youll have to manage your tasks when you aresearching for a job. These include resume writing, tailoring it for relevantjob opportunity, searching forjob opportunitieson-line, applying to positions open for you, interviewing, and more. It is essential and vital to break down the process and trail all of the tasks allied with it. Whether it is ajob search or an interview or justa phone call, it is very important to follow-up. When you have invested you precious timefor job search, it becomes significant to follow through your invested time. No matter what the result of the interaction is, it is a great way to build and maintain your personal identity and creategoodwillfor opportunities to come. Good Luck to all.

Did not disclose that I was terminated during probation on job app, but disclosed on day of interview?
At an nterview for a county job in CA, I was asked to update my app from 2010. On my orig. app, I didn't include a job I had for 4 months b/c I was released during probation due to unsatisfactory attendance (med reasons). Also on the 2010 app, I said I haven't been fired or released during probation. On my updated app, I did disclose info about being fired . HR rep asked about the discrepancy. I was honest day of interview, not on orig. app. Is there a chance I'd still be considered for this government job?
